Demi Lovato & Britney Spears: 'X Factor' Season 2 Judges

It’s official – two former Disney pop stars are joining The X Factor.

This fall, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will both be judges on the hit show alongside Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid.

The big announcement arrived on Monday (May 14) during Fox’s Upfront Presentation held at NYC’s Beacon Theater.

“I’m so thrilled to join this legendary group of judges on [the show],” Demi, 19, said in a statement. “To be able to spend each week with Simon, L.A. and Britney watching the best that America has to offer is truly a dream come true.”

Demi Lovato and Britney Spears are coming to my living room and I’m ecstatic! I really only tuned into American Idol for the audition rounds and to watch Paula Abdul drink out of her crazy Coke-a-Cola cup. But Demi and Britney are going to be ratings gold for season two of X-Factor and you should be SO excited!

Demi, 19, and Britney, 30, are going to be sitting right next to Simon Cowell this Fall and it will definitely leave us shocked at the end of each episode. These women are completely unpredictable and that’s what’s going to be so awesome. Britney is the ultimate popstar who paved the way for all of the young female performers today — she definitely knows what it takes to be a star.

American Idol tried to shake things up with a four judge panel then going back to the original three person format. But having Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez this season just isn’t doing it for me.

Demi will be able to provide a sensitivity chip because she’s coming off a tough year. The singer admitted to an eating and cutting disorder and she’s back better than ever. Also, Brit has experienced some intense times. Remember when she shaved her head, attacked a car with a golf club and temporarily lost custody of her kids?

Both of these women need a career boost and this will do just the trick. Britney might be reserved at first but she’ll loosen up. This will be the dominating show this Fall and I can’t wait!

So for those of you that will be watching Ryan Seacrest and boring old Steven, I’ll be tuning into fresh fun faces!

Demi Lovato Says She Is Lucky To Have Selena Gomez In Her Life

Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez might not be BFFs like they used to be, but they are still close. Demi revealed in a recent interview that she considers herself very lucky to have someone like Selena in her life! Here’s the quote, via Monsters and Critics:

"I’m very lucky to have someone like her in my life. Selena and I have been friends for a long time, but because of our schedules we don’t get to see each other very often. Sometimes, we call each other and arrange to meet so we can catch up." - Demi

Demi Lovato: Summer 2012 Tour Dates Announced!

Demi Lovato won’t have much time off between South America and North America — she’s headed back out starting June 12th on a 21-date tour!

Along with special guests Hot Chelle Rae and Owl City (on select dates), the 19-year-old “Skyscraper” singer will be hitting up Los Angeles, Las Vegas and many more cities.

“I am so excited to announce my upcoming US tour dates!!! I cannot wait to see you guys!” Demi tweeted in excitement.

Demi Lovato: Gold Award in Rio!

Demi Lovato has some fun in the ocean waters during her day off in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Wednesday (April 18).

The 19-year-old musician and some pals played around in the water and soaked up the sun.

Demi even made some new guy friends and passed the soccer ball back and forth before scoring their numbers.

“The song is about not wanting to break the other person’s heart, and really letting them know that you’re not in this to play games, or to hurt them – just that you’re there to love them,” the 19-year-old singer and actress tells E! News.

“I want to put it out there and show that women can be independent on their own,” Demi added about her nearly makeup-free look. “I think that’s the best lesson that I’ve learned – to love myself before any other person.”

“Give Your Heart A Break” is the second single off her Unbroken album.

Hollie shared, “I think she’s a really, really good role model. She went through a tough time and now she’s setting herself as a role model for young teenagers, and I think that’s definitely what people in the music industry need — or just in Hollywood in general, when you’re under a spotlight. I think she’s just setting a really good example — and she can sing too!”

Skylar added, “I’m so happy she’s had a great comeback. She had that hard year last year and everything and I’m so happy she’s got a comeback. I’ve been a fan of hers since she was on Disney Channel. From the beginning when she was there.”
